The “Cellule Pièges”

The “Cellule Pièges” platform is a National Analytical Service (CNRS/INSU) created in 1992 and certified since 2021 by the INSU’s Ocean-Atmosphere Scientific Commission (CSOA). Its mission is to process and analyze particulate samples from sediment traps, mesocosms, and other instruments deployed across various scientific projects and observation programs.

The platform offers a range of services: sample processing (removal of “swimmers” and sample splitting), mass flux measurement, carbon and nitrogen analyses (total and organic), and analysis of inorganic elements (aluminum, iron, calcium, phosphorus, biogenic and lithogenic silica). This platform is also responsible for checking the quality of the data and transmitting the dataset to project leaders.
