The Institut de la Mer de Villefranche is one of three marine stations attached to Sorbonne Université, along with the Station Biologique de Roscoff (SBR) and the Observatoire Océanologique de Banyuls (OOB).

Numerous training courses are organized by the station’s teaching staff, not only at the stations themselves, but also on the other Sorbonne University campuses.

The sea and oceans are at the heart of the courses offered at Villefranche, which are multi-disciplinary: Biology, Ecology, Geosciences, etc.

These courses are organized into bachelor’s degree and master’s degree courses, as well as summer schools.

There are also internship courses (bachelor’s, master’s) organized in the teams of the station’s 2 laboratories (LBDV and LOV).

These teams are also host teams for doctoral training.

Sciences-Sur-Mer

The Institut de la Mer and its supervisory bodies are actively involved in the French Year of the Sea and UNOC’3. As at the One Ocean Science Congress, they will take part in scientific exchanges and associated events.
The « Sciences-sur-Mer » Festival (7–13 June, Villefranche-sur-Mer) will strengthen the link between science and society by offering opportunities for dialogue among stakeholders and welcoming both the general public and schoolchildren.
